Parish Social Ministry Leadership

Certification Program

Catholic Charities USA

Build the knowledge and skills to lead and strengthen parish social ministry.

The Parish Social Ministry Leadership Certification Program (which was inspired by the work of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston/Houston) provides the theological background and practical components needed to create, lead or support a parish social ministry program.

Through 11 facilitator-led sessions, participants explore relevant Catholic teaching, ethics, communication, poverty, community organizing, program administration and more. The program combines a strong foundation in Catholic social doctrine with practical tools participants can apply within their parishes and communities.

Why Earn This Certification?

Parish social ministry plays an important role in helping parishes put faith into action and respond to the needs of their neighbors.

Through this certification program, participants will build a strong foundation and gain greater confidence to create, lead or volunteer within a parish social ministry program. Participants will also develop practical knowledge and skills that can benefit not only their parish, but also the communities they serve and the organizations they collaborate with, including their local Catholic Charities agency.
